Article 1. Officers:
The Officers of the club shall be President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary and Treasurer.
At the February meeting, the Membership shall hold a secret ballot vote to select a Nominating Committee. That Committee shall be composed of three members receiving the majority of votes with the member receiving the maximum becoming the Chairman. The Committee shall prepare a list of candidates whose names shall be presented at the March meeting. Nominations shall, also, be allowed from the floor. If there is more than one candidate for the same office, elections shall be by secret ballot and a majority vote shall elect. If there is only one candidate for each office, it will be in order that the President calls for a motion that the Officers be elected by acclamation.
At the April meeting, the Chairman of the Nominating Committee will be responsible for the installation of Officers and for selecting an appreciation gift for the outgoing President. All newly elected officers will assume their duties at that time.
Article 2. President:
The President shall preside at all meetings and shall have general management and direction of the club. She shall appoint officers to fill unexpired terms and appoint Standing Committee Chairmen. She shall be an ex-officio member of all committees.
Article 3. Vice President:
The Vice-President shall exercise the duties of the President in event of the absence of the President and be responsible for monthly programs.
Article 4. Recording Secretary:
The Recording Secretary shall keep minutes and read communications at the meetings. In the absence of the President and Vice-President, she shall preside.
Article 5. Corresponding Secretary:
The Corresponding Secretary shall attend to all communication of the club and shall receive the proposals for prospective new members.
Article 6. Treasurer:
The Treasurer shall be custodian of all funds and keep account of all receipts and disbursements as authorized by the Executive Board. She shall collect yearly Membership dues by March 1st and be responsible for collecting fines for specified infractions. She shall give a Treasury report at meetings.
Article 7. Executive Board:
The Executive Board shall be composed of all officers of the club.
Article 8. Standing Committees:
The Chairman of each Standing Committee shall be appointed by the President and announced before the September meeting.
Article 9. Membership:
The Membership of the club shall be divided into Classifications: Active, Honorary, and Inactive.
A. Active Membership:
1. The number of Active members shall be limited to a maximum of 40.
2. Dues for an Active member shall be $75.00
3. Prospective members may be invited to attend any meeting except those held in September and February. At the February meeting, a list of the proposed candidates, who have attended at least one meeting, will be announced. The Membership will, at that time, vote by secret ballot with a two-thirds majority necessary for Membership.
4. An Active member shall perform willingly whatever duties are asked of her. She shall participate in club activities including serving as Hostess at one monthly meeting a year.
5. An Active member not able to attend a meeting will be expected to notify the Hostess not later than Sunday evening, except in an emergency. Those failing to do so, will pay a fine of $20.00 to the Hostesses.
6. An Active member absent for three consecutive meetings without adequate reasons is automatically dropped from membership.
B. Honorary Membership
1. The Honorary membership is composed of Charter members or members whose long dedication to the club has merited this status.
2. After fifteen years of active service to the club, a member may submit a request in writing to the President stating that she desires Honorary membership.
3. Honorary Members are exempt from dues and have no duties unless desired.
4. Attendance at meetings is not required.
5. An Honorary member shall be a voting member.
6. To return to Active membership, an Honorary member must send a written request to the President. She must wait for an opening to occur. Her request takes precedence over proposed new members.
C. Inactive Membership
1.After two years active service to the club, a member may submit a request in writing to the President stating that she desires Inactive membership.
2. Dues for Inactive members shall be $75.00. No assessment or other financial support shall be required of her. If dues are not paid by August 1st, the member will automatically be dropped from the membership rolls.
3. Attendance at meetings is not required of her. She will be sent notice of all meetings and functions.
4. An Inactive member shall not be a voting member.
5. An Inactive member shall not be required to perform any duties or participate in any club activities.
6. To return to Active membership, an Inactive member must send a written request to the President and wait for a vacancy to occur.
D. Resignations must be in writing and sent to the Corresponding Secretary, who will present them to the club at the next regular meeting.
E. Members who elect to resign, or assume Inactive OR Honorary status, must notify the President no later than August 1st or they will be responsible for their assigned Hostess duty.
F. Any member may be dropped from the club by a vote of two-thirds of the Membership.
Article 10. Fees and Dues:
A. The Annual dues shall be $75.00 for each member and shall be payable on or before the March meeting of each year.
B. If dues have not been paid by June 1st, there will be an additional $5.00 monthly fine continuing until the dues are paid. If dues remain unpaid by August 1st, the member will automatically be dropped from the Membership rolls.
C. An Annual Fund Raiser will require the contribution of an item valued at a minimum of 100.00. Members not attending must either provide an item or be responsible for a financial donation of $100.00.
Article 11. Meetings:
Regular monthly meetings shall be held on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:30am. Fifty percent of the membership shall constitute a quorum.
A meeting of the Executive Board members and Past Presidents will be held in August. The current President and Treasurer will go over the budget for the upcoming year.
The annual cocktail party, to which spouses or dates are invited, will be held the month that is agreed upon by membership. This will be voted on at the March meeting for the upcoming year. Hostess list will be amended to allow for more hostesses in the month of the cocktail party.
Active members shall serve as Hostesses for one monthly meeting each year; the grouping of Hostesses shall be rearranged every two years. The Hospitality/Membership Chairman will make these assignments. New members fill in where needed, but most often assisting with the annual cocktail party.
Article 12. Amendments of By-Laws:
The club shall have the power to adopt, repeal, alter or amend the By-Laws at any meeting by a vote of the majority of the members present provided notice of intention to amend shall have been given at the preceding meeting.
